Trev and Mark,

I recall that the shelf life of petrol in say a gerry can is only a month 
or so before performance suffers severely. Unfortunately I cant 
remember the source of this info though, so I may be wrong :)

I can vouch though that it does go "off" - during my resto I fired up 
the L18 with fuel I had drained from the tank some time earlier and 
stored in a gerry can. A once docile and happy standard L18 
turned into a hard to start, backfiring through the carbie, non idling 
pain in the butt, and the only thing different was the storage time of 
the fuel.
