Yeah, what a waste of a 000 call. It's not like I was running down the
street in the opposite direction! People die because wankers like him don't
think about tying up lines with needless phone calls. No one was even
slightly injured, no damage to cabins space, and not even one of god knows
how many air bags (in the BMW) went off.

Everyone's a critic, but I don't think he can really pass judgement driving
his $100,000 car like a taxi driver drives a 500,000km Ford.

Yep, that Beemer got a mouth full off Datsun knuckles ;)

I'm kinda glad that I've got an all metal body, cause I had a friend with a
Datto with Fibreglass guards that had a similar accident a few years ago and
the guard just popped off and the left inner guard crumpled all the way to
the firewall, even compressed the p/s footwell 15cm or so. The metal guard
didn't come off at any of the mounting bolts and probably saved damage going
further back.

Coppers said they'll call me later and probably charge me with something
cause all these damn witness came off the street and even one out of a
building to tell the coppers that I was hooning. I said to the cops, I
wasn't speeding, maybe I chirped a bit off the line, maybe there was another
chirp into second (like a couple of witnesses said) but I didn't exceed
60km/h. I also said that the witnesses qualified to judge speed like the
police have to be training. But one copper pointed out that having 6
witnesses (at last count) all volunteering (everyone was walking home etc in
North Sydney), they'd likely give me a ticket and if I wanted to take it to
court, that'd be fine, and they'd call the witnesses.

Yeah I heard the Beemer guy say that he dialed 000 the moment he backed out
of the 2nd lane of the Pacific Hwy and then begin to criticise your
driving!!!

I tell you what though you did a good job on the Beemer!!!
Bits everywhere!!!
What did the coppers say?

Let us know how you go with it.

Hey Iggy (guys),

Yeah, mate I'm not very happy about it...

That dude in the brand new BMW 530 pulled out from a side street, and stuck
his nose in the 2nd lane, MY LANE!! It was a pretty hard hit, enough to rip
his bumper off and smash it against my bonnet, p/s pillar next to the
windscreen, take off the mirror, all while crumpling everything from the p/s
headlights back to the strut tower.

His nose (bumper, grill, lights, thermos, part of radiator) hooked it self
just above the bumper and below the bonnet on the Datto just as I applied
the brakes. He wasn't looking when he pulled out, so it's his fault as far
as insurance goes.

Although six eye witnesses (READ, DO GOODERS) claim I was speeding, but that
should only mean I get a neg driving ticket or similar from the Cops, I can
live with that. :)

But I only just got the car engineered and Rego'd after a five year build-up
17 days ago, so I'm being quite restrained when I say, I'm a little upset
about the damage.

I reckon there could be $5-8K to my car, and I'm a little underqualified to
estimate how much it'd cost too fix a $100K Beamer without a front end
(lol).

The Tow Truck driver said that even IF I was speeding it is still classified
by insurance as his fault as he didn't negotiate the turn safely. Has
anyone else had any similar experience with an accident that can calm my
worries about mortgaging the Datto to pay for a BMW front end?

Anyway, thanks for the words of kindness Iggy, I might end up coming out to
the Sydney Datsun Club meeting this month, but it'll have to be in a Mazda
:(

Jeremy (?)

I was at North Sydney and saw your car and the Beemer. I however only heard
it and didn't see it actually happen. I was going to say hello but thought
the time was probably inappropriate. Anyway good luck with it. It really
hurt to see your car like that. Ouch. :(
