Thanks for the words of encouragement :) yeah, well, in those five seconds alone, my car can reach 100km/h, I was going up hill, so maybe not quite so quick. But he clearly hadn't checked his right within the last 3 seconds or so of pulling out into 2 lanes of traffic.
The Summernats entrant stickers on the windshield probably won't go in my favour when the cops decide on who to charge. :( I haven't had any insurance on my shitbox cars over the last 8 years, only on company cars and my motorbike cause it was so cheap for 3rd party. During that time I have had three accidents that were other peoples fault. The first two both in my previous Datto 1600 involving women drivers running up the back of my car, within 6 weeks of each other! That was after I had paid deposit on an incoming SR20DET from SSS Automotive, before it had arrived! The car was written off after the second hit. The body was pretty average, and was due to be panel beated and sprayed after the engine conversion. So insurance only paid out $2000 plus I kept the wreck. The last one I had involved some old guy changing lanes into my KB Laser, causing $1500 worth of damage. I was pretty happy about that one cause it wasn't worth more than $1000, motor was smoky High Km/s, A/C didn't work, and other problems. I wasn't going re-register it. I had to fight a little with his insurance company to get them to find him at fault, but in the end they saw reason, after I sent them a drawing.... I figured out that if you deny fault until the end, and put in more effort than they could be bothered refuting, they'll pay. It might take a different approach because of the high cost of repairs, for both cars this time, but I'm going to make them pay even if I have to take them to court over it. I really meant to get insurance, but I loaned a friend a large amount of money before Christmas that I only just got back today. That was what I intended to use for insurance.
