Thinking about this again i've got this de-restriction sign thing the wrong
way round - it's more likely called a restriction sign.

Ken,

A de-restriction sign is when the speed limit changes downwards eg 110-80;
100-60 etc like in a little village with a pub, two dogs and a copper with a
camera at 2 in the morning. School zones are a big revenue raiser too, but I
don't have a problem with these areas as kids and their mothers do stupid
things around schools. The NRMA is doing a speed survey in school zones at
the moment, should be interesting to see what the results are like; if
they're not good then motorist beware - reactive policing of speed limits.

regards
Terry

Terry,
What is a de-restriction sign?
Sounds nice :)

Nick

PS The RTA has a list of all fixed speed cameras in NSW on their website. I
keep a copy with my Street directory so I can plan ahead.
You would have to be a bit of a Muppet to get caught by them though, they
are well sign posted, but people still do.
-Could just be a Sydney driver thing, Christ we are such awful drivers.

As for mobile speed traps, if everyone flashed their lights to warn oncoming
drivers - there'd be no problems and the Police could go back to more useful
work.
