Terry,
I use some that i made up that are the same as the whiteline control arms.Ive
used them on both types of xmembers. The control arms ive done are the later
type not those early type arms. The first set i did i used a rose joint pivot
but removed them after a sticker.I have found that when using the standard
type rubber bush on the control arm pivot and running 6 deg pos castor that
they chew out pretty quick and when using nolathane type inners that there is
a bit of stress on the arm itself as the nolathane doesnt have much give when
the arm is angled forward. You can check this out by assembling the front end
without springs and try to move the arm up and down. There is also a bit of
stress on the forward castor rod bush.In an effort to relieve some stress on
the control arm bush i carefully ground out the tube thats welded in the
control arm that the bush sits in and welded it back in at a slight angle so
that the bush sits straight even though the control arm angles forward. To
help the castor rod bush i removed one of the bolts from the control arm and
redrilled and reemed the hole to suit a larger fitted bolt. After doing this
and then checking the movement of the suspension without the springs in it
seemed to move a lot more freely and should allow the dampening of the shocks
to work better.I think this would give better feedback to people using
adjustable shocks and springs on a road car where rose joints arent allowed.I
also reckon that doing this would be a must for corner weighting.
