Same thing happened to my car with the twin
webers. Some fuel soaked into the filter socks and when the car somehow
backfired they went up. Luckily they just melted and the fire went
out. I didn't have an extinguisher on me and it had to be put out with a
rag. Anyway the only damage was melted unifilters all over the passengers
side of the engine bay. From now on I carry an extinguisher with me
everywhere.
