Subject: Re: Fire extinguishers save
cars!
On the same line of things.. electrical... datto's and
burning...
Back when I was 18 one day while working on the datto I shorted
the + battery terminal to the body of the car with my metal watch band
while leaning across the engine bay...
It shorted right across the watch band clip Welding the damm thing shut
On My Arm !! and off course cooking my arm in the process (burning
flesh is
not a nice smell) So hot that it burnt the fingers on
my other hand while trying
to prize the welded shut clip open so I could
get it off...

I had one of my 1st 1600's catch fire, just bought
it and it had some very dodgy stereo wiring, a lose (+) wire I later found
out, as it hit the handbrake mount and instantly burst into flame and went
red, white then disintegrated. I rushed to the front, and grapped it from
the battery and pulled it off as it disintegrated (ouch!), there was smoke
everywhere and I was damn lucky as it had burnt quite a good groove in the
fuel line somehow - that could have been fun. Extinguishers are a good
addition to any car :)
