I had one of my 1st 1600's catch fire, just bought it and it had some very dodgy stereo wiring, a lose (+) wire I later found out, as it hit the handbrake mount and instantly burst into flame and went red, white then disintegrated. I rushed to the front, and grapped it from the battery and pulled it off as it disintegrated (ouch!), there was smoke everywhere and I was damn lucky as it had burnt quite a good groove in the fuel line somehow - that could have been fun. Extinguishers are a good addition to any car :)
