No one is suggesting that racing on suburban roads is acceptable. And I
personally do not condone it.

I think Andrew has been caught in a situation where he dropped a wheelie as
he took off from a location and has been branded as a criminal as a result
of this action.

>From my past communication with Andrew and observing his responses on list,
I can only back him as exhibiting a responsible attitude to driving. As a
regular motor sport competitor in a wide range of disciplines (at a national
level) he has shown himself to be a most competent driver. This can be
verified from results available in the public domain.

These results would tend to indicate that if he did "smoke em up" when
re-entering the roadway, he would have been still been continuously in
control of the vehicle.
(He was not doing donuts). Any suggestion that his vehicle should be
confiscated as a result of hard acceleration onto the road way is draconian.

I am not condoning law breaking on the roads in any form. Ialso must state
that I am no one to look up too in these matters, as I have been guilty of
the same, or worse in the past.

Some times discretion on the part of the person notating the infringement,
would go a long way to improving police/public relations. Not all persons
who are accused of breaking the law have any intent as a motive. There
should be some discretion on the part of the notating officer.

Sometimes (and this may be an example) "due process and prosecution" may
also end up having a negative influence on the broader community. Especially
if it appears as if an injustice has been done.

The listers world - wide subscribing to OZDAT would probably gain a very bad
impression of our country from this type of reaction (confiscation of
vehicle) from spinning some wheels.

Oops sorry for the lecture (long post) I will hop off my soap - box now.

Cheers
Feral Errol

I'll probably be howled down here but I don't care, I simply don't
understand what the fascination is with doing a burnout or racing on
suburban roads.

If you want to build horsepower and prove yourself and your vehicle,
build a club racer or street class dragger and do your burnouts and
racing at the track. Don't fuck around on the street that our families
drive on to get to work, school, uni etc.

Cheers
Brad
