You should have had the current owner remove it as a condition of the sales contract. Once you buy the land it is your responsibility and liability.

Since it may be too late for that, when I needed to get rid of the remains of a car I had parted out, a local yard took it for free. I did have a title though. If you are in a really remote area you may have to pay to have it removed but it should not be a lot. Don't know what complications lack of a title will cause.

A bit off-topic, but I'm sure some folks have had to deal with this.. On some property I'm buying sometime in the next few days, someone has abandoned a car several years ago. Naturally, I don't have a title or any
other papers for it, but I want to get it off my land, preferably without
spending more than a trivial amount to do so. (too bad it's not a benz,
it's some mid-80s detroit monster).. Has anyone had any experience with entities (maybe some charity? maybe a scrapper?) who will take a car
without a title? I'm quite confident that as abandoned property it's mine
to dispose of and just want to see it gone. besides, if there's gonna be a
non-running car on the property it'd better be a 123.
