What am I facing? It came off when wife was about a 1/4 mile from the house and she got it close to the house. It stayed with the car, wedged against
the fan shroud and supported by the belts. 1981, manual transmission.

I had the dampener/balancer and pulleys come off my OM617 twice......

First time near an MB dealer and the "resident gorilla" w/a 4 foot bar put everything back together again...... A hundred thousand miles later, it came loose again...... Got it to my Phoenix indy .... Dampener slot was damaged, but crank OK..... He got a used dampener/balancer and new "dowels"..... It's all back together and runs great.......

Take care,
