Travas - Now that's an original idea. Hook your A/C system up to manifold pressure to evacuate the system or is this a diesel and you are using the engine's vacuum pump. In any case I wonder how the A/C system likes the hydrocarbon contaminants. What kind of system pressures have you achieved? I'm curious, has anyone actually ever been successful doing this?

If you are using the engine as the vacuum pump then it has to be running to suck the vacuum. Are we still miss communicating? I think what's meant is: The engine is not running during the process; the vacuum pump is run continuously throughout the process.
