I guess it depends on the store and sales person. Our store cheerfully replaces any craftsman tool I bring in, including a hammer with a split in the rubber handle covering, swivel adapters (1/4" and 3/8") which became too flexible to hold a socket in place, a hex bit (5mm) that kept slipping out of the drive, and a torque wrench (which clearly states that the replacement guaranty does not apply).
