Synflex is somebody's brand name for the black plastic high strength stuff. in the 70s, it was new, and was used for small hydraulic lines.

Late 70's Saab CIS systems were entirely plumbed with the stuff except for clear lines to the injectors. I never saw a failure in the black stuff. They'd run one straight piece from the fuel pump to the fuel filter with a banjo on each end, a short one from filter to distributor, and a smaller return line from the fuel distributor to the tank. You never had to worry about rusty or rotting fuel lines. The two main problem areas were the rubber elbow between the fuel filler pipe and the tank, and the 2" rubber hose connecting the in tank strainer to the fuel pump inlet.
