That would not necessarily be a "major" rupture. Remember the vac pump is pumping while the car is running, and the reservoir is reservoiring, enough to keep up with various demands (like brakes) so a small leak (like a 10 minute leak) would not overwhelm the pump. Could be a rubber connector is cracked or stretched a bit, a hose is loose, a hose is cracked (that plastic is kinda stiff and gets brittle), pinhole in a diaphragm, whatever. About the only way to track down a small leak like that would be to test each part of a circuit in sequence, pull a vacuum with your mityvac, then watch the gauge to see what it does over a few minutes. Painful and slow, but there you go.

I tested today and the locks held less than 10 minutes.  The vacuum
reservoir is a possibility, but what sort of major rupture in the line could
have no effect on how the car runs or how quickly it stops?  I guess it
can't be under the hood, right?
