When you come back pull the main vacuum into the car from the engine
compartment and see if it springs back. Might be theres enough residual vacuum
to keep it from springing back but not enough to open the doors.

When I lock the car after driving, everything locks - including the fuel
door.
But when I come back 30 mintues later the car will not unlock, including the
fuel door  - which is designed to spring open when vacuum system has a
leak.
