Hi Peter:

I guess that's why my college physics class had a lab component. Theories
need to be tested out in the lab to see if they really worked! Adding a
sandbag or two to the trunk has a trivial effect on the overall weight, but
shifts the CG enough to the rear to greatly improve traction.

Some cars I've driven have done surprisingly well in the snow without any
added weight in the trunk. For example, several Volvo 122s and several
Mercedes 123s I have owned. Others were transformed by adding even one
sandbag to the trunk, such as a police model Chevy Caprice (1990?) I used to
drive.

I've never been able to come to grips with adding weight to a car foe snow.
Added mass was is harder to start and stop in physics lab 101.

My 2 WD Ford F-250 is terrible in the snow, it gets stuck on wet grass with
my 5th wheel on (About 2,000 pin weight)

I'm pretty well convinced that people who have trouble driving in the snow
have never had snow tires or properly weighted their car and are probably
clueless...
The only time I've ever had real trouble was the second winter I had my 240D
when it had balding all season tires and it was a disaster. Got snows put on
and it was like it was glued to the road.

In what snow we get in OK - yes. I never had any problems driving my SLC in
snow - at least not any different from any other car i've owned.

My wife has expressed an interest in one too. Are they fairly driveable in
