Good work, though I saw no mention of old microwave ovens, refrigerators, or shoegoo.

My Dad had reported that not all the brake lights were working, so
yesterday after I put on the new license tab I checked it out. Only
the center light seemed to be out, and not seeing how it opened up I
(mistakenly) unbolted it from the trunk lid. Well, it turns out that
the lens just pries out from the housing, and that the bulb was fine.
The wiring was the problem. However, the holes drilled in the trunk
lid are cracked and rusting, and I don't like those stupid blind-me
lights anyway. They weren't required until 1985, so I think I'll take
it back off! (Call it restoration.) I'm due to take the car in for
paint repairs Friday, so if I can weld up the holes by then I can get
that fixed too. (The estimate had included some paint repair to that
area of the trunk lid anyway.)

Today I brushed off the paint and rust at the center brake light's
mounting holes and welded shut the four screw holes. I used some
scrap sheet metal to fill larger the center wiring hole. Wet towels
draped around the area contained the spatter and prevented unnecessary
paint damage. I then ground the filled holes flat with the surface of
the trunk lid and primed it. I painted the patches with the
rattle-can of vaguely-matching touch-up paint I have, just to protect
and hide it until proper paint repair can be made.
