You know I thought that too until I really paid attention...

The Prestone 50/50 stuff is $6+ at Autozone ($6.50 I think) while G-05 is
$11.95 at Car Quest and each gallon makes two...

One of my snowmobiles was having strange overheating episodes, not actually
overheating but getting quite high on the gauge, higher than I thought it
should be. I decided to drain the overflow bottle (which is actually the top
radiator tank on a snowmobile) and refill with G-05. The quart that lives in
that tank is a significant portion of the coolant total. When I drained the
tank I thought "geez that looks awful thick".

I *think* what happened is that somebody ran straight green anti-freeze and its
so thick that at low engine speeds it has a hard time getting through the
thermostat. With a quart of 50/50 G-05 in the tank almost all of the heating
issues are gone. I need to drain and replace the system totally at some point,
maybe in the spring...

I have noticed that straight Zyrex is much thicker than regular
antifreeze, but if it leaks you're out a lot more cash.
