That's just sort of the reality of car buying.  A buyer in the flesh
with cash in hand is worth more than a voice on the phone saying "I'm on
my way."  The other reality is that good deals don't last very long.  If
you find a good deal but it's 200 miles away, chances are it'll be gone
by the time you can get there.

I don't think I'll ever buy another car very far out of town again.  I
did buy my 300D out of state, even wired a down payment to hold it; I
only did that because the seller was a regular on the old mbz.org diesel
list and I figured he'd been around long enough to be the real deal.
