Wow you're old. My Grandpa (now deceased) was fortunate enough to transfer off USS Morris (DD 417), a destroyer escort in the South Pacific, just a week or two before a direct hit from kamikaze took out bridge and wardroom and killed/wounded most of the officers (Grandpa was LT Killion then, his General Quarters post was at the main battery, a five inch gun). Ship remained afloat but was later scrapped.

My uncle was one of few who survived, floating in a life raft for quite some time with dead shipmates. My uncle is a really cool guy and funny as hell. He was a shop teacher like forever, and took no shit (oops, shouldn't say that should I) from any kid, and set quite a few straight as to how life was and how it worked and how they should behave. My dad mentioned this a time or two, but never any details, and I have never heard my uncle speak of it. --R _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com _______________________________________ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com
