MassPort has been running all the busses at the airport on CNG for years now, 
at least the last 8 years that I've been traveling frequently.

Back 10 or so years ago Portland, Maine had an electric bus for commuter to 
park in a lot outside of downtown. I rode it quite a bit. The driver's 
commented that the biggest issue the designers had (I gathered the bus was a 
work in progress) was having useful power steering...

Running diesels on natural gas is old news. Been done for years in the 
transmission line business.
