I also drove a 2012 Passat with the DSG 6 speed. It was surprisingly smooth. Yes, lots of shifts, but they were very smooth. It was much more pleasant to drive than the MBs! I'm going to drive a 2012 SUbaru Impreza with the CVT after they finish cleaning the broken glass out and replace the windshield and rear window. It should get great gas milage due to the many hail dents.
