I have had one for a dozen years. It really is whisper quiet to the point summer a few years ago I had to crawl into the attic to make sure it was really running because the upper story of the house was not cooling as much. Lack of a breeze, but the fan was still going. It does drop temp about 5C. Also really good for winter at pulling moisture out of the attic from condensation.
Scared the tar out of the contractor when he opened the box the day he installed it. Pealed back the cardboard and this thing gets some photons and the fans kicks and. Round top with the panel embedded in it looked like some UFO about to take off. He dropped it right back in the box and slammed it shut.
