I think the caps are available again, and they don't seem that they're as
expensive as they used to be.  At least, I see them for sale here and
there.  Mine is in pretty good shape, so I just cleaned it up and will see
how it goes.

Next M189 challenge I have to deal with is an oil leak at the front of the
engine.  I suspect the hydraulic fan coupling, which is unique to M189s
with AC and 600s.  Its classic german over engineering.  A feed of engine
oil is controlled by a thermostat, which is used to drive the fan via a
hydraulic coupling.  With the radiator out of the way, it'll be pretty easy
to dig into it.
