In 2000 or thereabouts the caps, if you could find an NOS one, were running in
the low $300 range. Fortunately, mine didn't need one, but I was trying to be
proactive and source one should I need it. I think I found one courtesy of
John, the guy Down Under who has the MB shop. It was the cheapest one I could
find at the time.

Mine didn't have AC, which was a blessing and a curse.

A blessing because it reduced the complexity of an already complex car of its
vintage, a curse because living in Florida without an air conditioned car is a
real b*tch, even if the AC is marginal. I had been looking for a Behr or
Kuhlmeister aftermarket until when I sold the car.

I will say that my 300SE was the most fascinating MB I've ever owned. When you
spent time working on it and considered the age, the engineering of the car was
so far beyond what was on the market at the time it was strange thinking about
what similar domestic cars were like.

And it was the one I got the most head turns in, too. I still have a soft spot
for finnies, and hope that some day I can find another.
