If you used brad point or tiny Forstner bits to drill out the corners
first to get the proper radius it probably wouldn't be difficult to rough
out the rest of the hole if you were careful.

I cut mine with very careful use of a drill, small, flat rasp and a "rat

Hendrik,
If you find console or dash wood with too many openings you can get
"blanks" to fill the unused hole.
I have seen them but don't know part numbers. A dig into the EPC would
probably yield a part number.
I have successfully cut new holes using a router and a jig set up for
the proper size, however, this is a fairly difficult woodworking
operation that is not something I would suggest unless you have the
tools and a fairly good level of experience.

If you're careful, and there's enough blank space, you can cut new
hole(s) wherever you need 'em like I did in lower panel of my 124 for
mobility scooter charger, MB authentic rocker switch.

OK so the whole car for 500 is not going to work, worth a shot, how
about the centre console wood work, I am forever trying to find
decent wood work for my TE but it's hard.
For instance the stuff in Oz is usually sunburnt and the varnish
cracks/fades.
The UK is a good source but most 124's didn't come with A/C hence no
hole for the controls. Or the bottom bit has no holes for power
windows.
Seeing that I would like to upgrade to walnut it makes it harder, for
instance
http://www.starpartz.co.uk/products/w124-e-class-series-walnut-control-surround-trim.html
has all the top holes I need but no A/C.
This one has A/C but one of the top holes is in the wrong spot,
although I could shift one of the switches perhaps.
http://www.starpartz.co.uk/products/w124-series-walnut-switchcontrol-surround.html
This is a good price
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Mercedes-W124-E420-or-Limited-E320-Console-Shifter-Wood-Bezel-Burl-Walnut-/261166457367?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ccebbe217&_uhb=1#ht_947wt_1399
but I need the rest of the stuff as well.
Now apparently a lot of US spec 124's came with push button climate
control, which is not like my rotary knob set up.
What sort do you have in Oskar?
And yeah I might cough up shipping if the right stuff comes up.

A well at least I missed that curb cut:-)
So I take it there is structural damage?
Front suspension is pretty straight forward and relatively cheap to
fix.
Just kinda annoying that a car which would be a very desirable
model is
put out to pasture because of a little run in with something a bit
more
solid than it.
Well, there is cosmetic damage, but the real problem is with the
sub-frame to which the front suspension connects. The mounting
flanges on
the sub-frame that hold the right lower suspension parts (A-arm?)
were
what hit the curb cut and are now very noticably bent backward.
To fix all that, one has to replace the sub-frame. To get the
sub-frame
out, one needs to remove the engine. That's why my insurance company
totaled it.
Hendrik
who will give you 500 for Oscar if you ship it and I mean ship it
Not a chance, sorry. I'm sure it would cost more than 5 times that
amount
just to ship it port-to-port.
