Oh, and in one respect IL is not as bad as they used to be. Their state POTrol used to sit at the state line and pull over every truck they could. Stick you for a big fine for not having an IL inspection on your truck licensed and owned out of state. Even pickups. Fines equivalent to $500 to $1000 in today's inflated $.

See, you had to have an IL inspection on your pickemup just to drive a mile into IL and go home. Somewhere along the line they reeled in the fuzz on that one, so its better now.

The only way out was if you had an appt at the closest insp station. Johnny law would usually escort you there to make sure you didn't stop for an ice cream along the way. That was a lot of business for the stateline insp stations.
