There needs to be a rather large correction to society and industry such that the people who feel deserving are shown that you deserve nothing more than what you made your own self. That life is not fair or reasonable and you do not get a prize for showing up.
I do know that we will need a number of younglings to continue in the work force, even though at present we have an excess inventory of labor. A good extended decline in non productive population could resolve the imbalance. IF the social programs were trimmed, maybe there would be a small amount of initial pain, but those who will work, at ANYTHING, will figure it out, and the others will be left to fend for themselves, which is what they all will be doing anyway.
