That's Jorma's old 2.3-16V chassis with OM603 (1986/87 300SDL/300D engine)
He used the 5sp from the 16v, with a custom double plate clutch, 457hp.
1/4 mile in the mid 13s is very good for a turbo diesel with stick shift
and traction problems. I want to do a mild replica of that car, I already
have a OM 602 turbo engine (5/6 of an OM603) and a pearl black 2.3-16v.
I just bought a variable nozzle turbo from a 2005 E320CDI, my Finnish
friends tell me the VNT turbo can handle 250hp, and one of them has a 331hp
OM602, so I think 250 should be possible.
Jorma now has a 124 coupe with the newer 24v OM606, over 500hp. I'll be happy
if I can run with an E320CDI (0-60 in 6.8, 40mpg hwy). My 2.3-16 can do 0-60
in 7.3 seconds and get 23mpg hwy.

Didn't that one have a license plate and trailer hitch? I think it's a daily
driver. Jorma's converted 16v didn't have a plate at the May 5 drags in the
video.
