Yes the whole linkage system has been cleaned and grease in the
cups. No sticking there.
Do have one where the whole thing doesn't work most of the time.
Will probably take the controller apart some time and see if it
may just need resoldering. Just not important enough right now.

Could be a number of things, but first I would check to make sure
the
linkage at the actuator is clean and moving freely -- if it
sticks in
either direction, it will surge.
None of mine did when they worked, but would drop and re-establish
speed more and more often as the amplifiers went out.
