Computers are getting smarter and that is a good thing.

Yesterday morning, I came into my office and when my monitor lit up, there was a box in the middle of the screen telling me that Microsoft Windows thought my hard drive was failing and suggested I take immediate steps to secure my data. I called my computer guy who happened to be close by. He popped in and confirmed that the message was legitimate and not some type of scam. He took the CPU away at about 11:30 AM and was back with it by about 2 PM with a new hard drive installed and the whole thing copied such that I lost no data at all.

Sure beats the past times when hard drives gave up without warning.
I have online backup of data nightly but cloning the drive is not something I was prepared for so I am happy that it worked out the way it did.
