How many of the other 10K are justifiable homicides? That would include self defense and justifiable shootings by law enforcement or civilian. Including those numbers in the 10K would not give an accurate picture of the social value vs. the social cost of firearms.
The removal from society of someone killed in justifiable self defense or other justifiable homicide has not only saved the life of the shooter, but potentially saved some other lives in the future that could have been put at risk by the deceased.
