I was curious if it reads ok until it reaches the low level. Is there any way electronically to get an oil quantity reading?

My measurement reads 11.0 cm and I am not sure why. I did an electronic check with the car's computer and it comes back "OK". Any suggestions? Is it possible for the dash readout to say 'overfilled', or is 'OK' the highest level?
