If you're referring to the return lines they have little pressure. The steel lines to the injectors are high pressure. Picking up cylinders one at a time is normal in cold starts or after running out of fuel.
        Have you ever read the cold start procedure in your Owner's Manual?

         What's the best way to check the injection pump?

With an injector pump tester. Actually that is best left to those in the know.
