Thanks Peter, Would a shorted diode not be bad?
How many amps would a shorted Diode draw? Would this be consistent with my readings? I am already committed to replacing the alt. I am just wondering if my diagnosis is right.
Probably will get a used one but might go new...
Not a bad diode, a shorted one. Replace or rebuild the alternator would be my suggestion. Peter
