Here's a little more of my thought process when I decided to leave the cap loose:

After filling it and letting it idle for a minute or two when picked it up, I noticed the system had pressure after just that amount of time - maybe a minute or two - that I was afraid there might be a possible head leak or it would overpressure.

I can't imagine after starting a cold engine that within a couple of minutes there's pressure in the cooling system? Or am I way off base here?
