That's what I used to think but when the same plane makes north south passes at about 1000' and about a mile apart east to west that takes about 1/2 hr to come back from the north and about an hour from the south it makes you wonder. I'm thinking that they do the closer images with the plane and the higher altitude ones from the sat. I'm on a dial up line so the time it takes to download the images is noticeable. When you get down to about 1000' another set of images is loaded that replaces the larger area ones that were loaded for the higher altitude view. I've seen the flight pattern from a similar looking 2 engine plane twice now about 3-5 years apart and noticed the different closeup views about a week after. Of course the larger area pictures change at the same time so it could still be all sat images. Or maybe it's the MIB keeping an eye on us. Of course being German I'm probably just being paranoid to be thinking that so I like the Google picture taking theory better. :-)

No plane, Manfred, eye in the sky.

I did some checking and that?s LandSat 8 imagery. Roughly 570 miles up.
