This thing actually seemed decent mechanically (without a drive), just a bit ratty inside, and it looked pretty nice with the respray (which looked like a half decent job). I felt kinda bad offering him $1500 but he is a big boy so his call. Engine looked good, a bit of oil here and there but nothing excessive.

He said he had replaced tie rods but had not yet got an alignment, so that would be $100some, one of the tires looked to be wearing a bit on an edge but were otherwise decent tread. He said too it had a bit of play, which would be the steering box, it appears those can be adjusted a bit though I have never tried it -- seems a little arcane.

Your 300SEL for a similar price is an interesting comparison but I have no interest in a 140 gasser so there's that.

I wish I could find a decent nice dizzel for the boy. They seem to be in short

so I went to look at this car. Looked OK with a respray but who knows what's
under there. Kind of a 20 footer. I like the color a lot. Interior a bit
shabby, the wood trim was mostly shot.

Started right up idled nicely. Most of the car looked pretty good, some rust
underneath but nothing critical. He had fixed some odds and ends. Said the AC
worked but leaked out all the magic juice so he had not fooled with it.

The kid was asking $2100, I offered $1500, he said he would go to $1700. We
chatted a bit, told him to think about it, he said he would and would let me
know Tuesday. Nice kid just didn't have time to mess with it and was keeping
it at a friend's garage. Like I need the damn thing, but for $1500 it would be
kinda fun and I could probably flip it at some point to one of you loosers.

Poos should buy it for his boy instead of that SEL he wants to look at. Nice
simple 126 dizzel.
