The important point (which I included) is glow plugs. The Pisten Bulley we groom snowmobile trails with starts good with a healthy snort of ether. No glow plugs on that engine so no worries, its actually got provision for an ether injector where you added liquid ether to a little pump behind the seat. Its long been disabled so we just do a manual squirt when required. A lot of heavy equipment has a place to put the can of ether but again, no glow plugs. Those are all (AFAIK) direct injection. Max seems to indicate the prechambers are maybe the problem. A quick google suggests glow plugs look to be an issue which doesn't mean its the only issue. -Curt

A little goes a long way. Little shot in the grill, synthetic oil, and good to go. On Feb 28, 2017 5:53 AM, "Curt Raymond via Mercedes" <mercedes@okiebenz.com> wrote: Yeahbut, its not cold where you are. I was going to buy another and run two of them since the car doesn't get used much and I couldn't see the point in have a $100+ battery die of old age. Problem was that the battery tray would almost but not quite seat both of them. Being able to keep right on starting and driving if one battery died would be a big advantage IMO.
