Its been a while since I emailed. I am still receiving digest, but with my new job I haven't had much time to respond to any. I think many of you know I have two BMW 7 series. One is a 2000 740IL and the other is a 1999 740IL. The 2000 has almost 240,000 miles. Last week the poor car experienced a catastrophic failure. These engines have plastic timing chain guides and they typical fail between 150,000 and 200,000 miles. Sometimes they fail sooner. Well, mine lasted almost 240,000 miles. They apparently let go and there is almost no time to stop the damage from occurring. So, my 2000 7 series is done. It is going to BMW heaven. My question is for you all with experience parting out cars. I needed the radiator for the other car and have already removed it. I know this is a Mercedes list, but I'm wondering if it is worth the trouble to start scavenging parts off the car to use for mine AND also to sell for $. I have never tried to do this.
