Both differentials are now sitting on my tailgate. The 'bad' one has a lot looser pinion than the one that's going in now. Gears look good though. Maybe I could have tightened the pinion nut and fixed it, it certainly would have been a lot easier than dropping the entire rear subframe and I even have the special MB tool for doing the differential castle nut. But I didn't want to have that not work and need to do the swap anyway. I wish to take the car on a long road trip tomorrow, so I need it to be done.
