Subject: Re: [MBZ] 124 Differential Swap - Rear Mounts

Done with both mounts, using all-thread / socket / washers. I'm SO glad
this job wasn't was bad as you describe Dan. I must be living right.

They were dead, left side was very badly deteriorated. This work is on The White Whale, 390k miles, and the differential has so much slop in the right
side bearing that I get bad knocking noises from the rear end under
acceleration. Both half-axles were also shot.

I've got a very nice used differential from Wilton's 300D, only 148k miles,
so that differential and axles are going into The White Whale.

I ordered new differential mounts from FCP Euro last Sunday, got the wrong
count. There are two rear diff mounts, bushings really. There is a single
mount at the front, but that is really two pieces that make a sandwich on
the sub-frame. I thought I ordered two rear mounts and one front mount
(assuming I'd get both halves of the front mount). I ended up with two
boxes of rear mounts (with two bushings in each box) and one half of the
front mount. I'll reuse the best looking side from Wilton's sedan for now.

OK, back out under TWW to muscle the diff into place, fun fun fun...

Is there a reason why you want to change these out? Are they worn or
otherwise looking like they need replacement?

I ask because they are a total pig to replace.
