Probably. You just need something of relatively small diameter that has a shape that will allow you to grab a hold and pull it out once the mirror is in position.
I have seen a tool made of flat steel that has a small “L” formed into the end. One side of the “L” goes against the boss, the short end sticks out and pushes the spring back.
