Probably.  You just need something of relatively small diameter that has a 
shape that will allow you to grab a hold and pull it out once the mirror is in 
position.

I have seen a tool made of flat steel that has a small “L” formed into the end. 
One side of the “L” goes against the boss, the short end sticks out and pushes 
the spring back. Sort of like the radio removal keys in a sense.
