Nearly all tire shops tighten lug bolts more than required. They won't get sued
for that but they can get sued if a wheel comes off while driving. That's why I
carry a cheap lug wrench with a Sharpie mark at the correct pressure. I hand
the lug wrench to the tire man and tell him to tighten to the mark. That's okay
with most shops since the shop has a witness that the fault is mine if a wheel
comes off.
I also carry a breakover handle, 6 point socket, and a 3 ft. piece of pipe for
a cheater bar to use for roadside tire changes. You can twist off 2, and
sometimes even 3 lugs and still get to an exit or even a tire shop.

P.S. Curious event from long ago: Once had the right front wheel bearing go bad
on an early '60s model Beetle. Took off the RF wheel, hub, and linkage; and
drove slowly home on 3 wheels. How was that possible? 1. Heavy
engine/transmission in the rear and my 200 lbs on the left side of the car.
Neighbor said that was impossible until I bet him $100 I could show him it
wasn't. He didn't take the bet.
