Today I had planned to fix the AC in my '95 E300. Replace the receiver /
dryer, replace leaky low pressure valve, vacuum, add leak sealer and fill
with r134.

I managed to buy two different receiver / dryers, aftermarket, and they are
BOTH wrong! The intake pipe and the outgo pipe are supposed to be about 90
deg apart, judging from what was installed in the car. Both of the new
parts are only about 60 degrees apart.

I visited several local auto parts houses, nobody has the right part. What
is in stock is really wrong, not even close to my part. MB wants $125 for
it, after market prices are around $30.

So how do I fix this?

Attached is screen shot from EPC. #3 is the dryer. Should I try to modify
the intake and outgo pipes to fit the aftermarket part? #5 is short with a
rubber section in the middle, I'm tempted to take that to a hydraulic hose
shop and see if they can replace the rubber section with a longer section.
#6 is aluminum tubing, I think it would be pretty risky to try to bend that
to get the right angle.
