I really don't think it will leak!! If you do use caulk, I really like the expensive RV "lap joint sealer" - either "self leveling" (more fluid, use on a roof Dicor, 501LSW) or "non-self leveling" (less sag, Dicor 551LSW). It never really gets hard or stiff, it turns into a rope-caulk like substance.
