You have never had the tach or oil pressure gauge quit? Or any problems with
the a/c? My old 123 diesel with over 450K had the ignition deal where I had
to turn it back just a tad to get the a/c to work. The tach on it also was
funky. I have heard of tons of 123 where the odometer quits working --
although it has not happened to me until now. I have never had an oil
pressure gauge fail (or at least not work). I think the issues I am tackling
are fairly common.

BUT, I take your point. I have no illusions about this car. I only paid
$1000 for it. I know it has not been babied. I don't regret buying it
considering the price. Of course, I did see a craigslist for a 124 diesel.
It is a 1992 with only 122,000 miles and it looks SPECTACULAR and I want it.
But, it is also $7,000. I know if this current 123 turns into too much of a
headache, I have several buyers ready to come get it for $1000.

Good work, Don, although to be honest in all my years of owning 300 diesels I
haven't encountered any of the issues you report. I think you may have picked
up a car that has been at best neglected or - worse - butchered.
