I have had the front springs break on the TE, replaced them a few years back. It was driven on the beach at some point -- tiny sea shells in the covers on the links :(.
Up in Canada broken coil springs were common, along with severe body rot. I definitely would not use that subframe if you have a better one, it's pretty far gone.
