Plexiglas does pass enough UV to cause sunburns, as I've gotten them in the past in an airplane. When we repaleced the windshield in the C182, I bought one with 95% UV blocking and could only get up to 50% IR blocking. It is noticeably more comfortable than plain Plexiglas, whether tinted green or gray, or clear.
